Continuing our exploration of the concept of waiting on God, as depicted in Psalms 40:1-5 NKJV, we now turn our attention to the obstacles that put our faith to the test and the unwavering assurance of God’s steadfast presence. The act of waiting can sometimes become a battlefield, where our inner tranquility hangs in the balance.

1) Guarding the Inner Man: The period of waiting can often seem never-ending, and during these times, our internal strength may falter. Uncertainty, anxiety, and perplexity are powerful adversaries that aim to weaken our spiritual base. It is essential to acknowledge that these adversaries are only temporary, trying to disturb us. Nevertheless, by staying devoted to prayer and watchful, we can prevent these influences from diminishing our inner essence. We must ensure that our physical and mental being does not become a habitat for such unrest.
2) Recalling God’s Deliverance: Reflecting on our previous trials and the intervention of God empowers us. We have all experienced being rescued from difficult situations by God’s grace. He has defeated our enemies before, removing the doubts that once troubled us. Let this reminder of God’s deliverance inspire us to remain patient and trust in His timing, rather than falling back into despair.
3) Embracing God’s Teachings: You may wonder, what is it that God does best? God excels at guiding us through our challenges and triumphantly leading us to wisdom for our journey in life. This wisdom enables us to navigate through life’s obstacles and also empowers us to teach others the importance of trusting in the Lord and remaining courageous. By patiently waiting, God will always teach us how to cultivate patience for the most favorable outcomes.
As we continue to wait on God, let us remain resolute amidst inner conflicts, remembering the victories of the past and embracing the wisdom of our journey. The period of waiting should not be seen as a passive condition, but rather an active commitment to our faith, a testament to our trust in God’s perfect timing and plan.
